Frequently Asked Questions

How will I know if you are the right therapist for me?

Most people get a good sense within the first couple of sessions whether I’m the right therapist for them. I recommend starting with a free 15-minute consultation—it’s a chance for us to connect, talk about what you’re hoping to work on, and see if it feels like a good fit.

Do you provide in-person or online therapy sessions?

All sessions are held through a secure, easy-to-use telehealth or online platform. At this time, I do not offer in-person therapy.

Who do you work with?

I provide counseling for adults living in California. Please note that I do not offer counseling for children or couples.

I provide support for a variety of concerns, including:

  • Difficulties managing anxiety, fear, and worries

  • Childhood trauma and the effects of acculturation

  • Stress related to life, work, or family

  • Depression

  • Grief (due to the loss of a loved one, major life transitions, family relationships, etc.)

  • Relationship issues

  • Exploration of career and life-related decisions

  • Generational trauma

What can I expect from therapy?

Even after deciding to see a therapist, it’s completely normal to feel nervous about getting started. Many people feel unsure before their first session.

Therapy is a shared process—while we’ll walk the path together, it’s ultimately your journey, and you’ll always have ownership over your choices. I may not have all the answers, but I will listen closely, ask thoughtful questions, and create space for insight to emerge. Your responses will help guide the direction of our work.

You can expect to be treated with respect. I’ll offer reflections and suggestions along the way, but I won’t tell you what to do—this is about helping you find what feels right for you.

What happens during the first session?

Sessions are 60 minutes long, which is the standard length for individual counseling. If you’re interested in a longer session, feel free to reach out to discuss availability and pricing.

How often will we meet?

To start, we’ll meet once a week. Meeting regularly in the beginning helps build momentum and creates a strong foundation for progress. As your goals begin to take shape—or are met—we can adjust the frequency to what feels most supportive for you.

Is therapy confidential?

In general, the law protects the confidentiality of all communications between a client and a psychotherapist. No information is shared without your written permission.

However, there are a few exceptions required by law:

  • Suspected child, dependent adult, or elder abuse: I am legally required to report this to the appropriate authorities immediately.

  • Threats of serious harm to others: If there is a serious threat of physical violence toward another person, I must notify the police and the intended victim.

  • Risk of self-harm: If you are at risk of seriously harming yourself, I will do my best to ensure your safety. If necessary, this may include reaching out to others for additional support.

  • Use of insurance: If you choose to use insurance, your provider may require access to certain confidential information in order to authorize and pay for services.

If you have any questions about confidentiality, I’m happy to discuss them further with you.

How much do you charge?

For private pay clients, my fee is $200 per 60-minute session.

I understand this may feel like a significant investment. But therapy is an investment in your most valuable asset—your emotional well-being, your relationships, and ultimately, your quality of life. Working with a therapist who brings training, experience, and a deep understanding of human behavior can make a meaningful difference.

When viewed in the larger picture, therapy often costs far less than the long-term impact of untreated stress, anxiety, or relational challenges—whether that’s medical costs, missed work, or legal fees related to relationship difficulties.

If you have questions about rates, feel free to reach out.

What is your cancellation policy?

I require at least 24 hours’ notice for any cancellations or rescheduling.

The no-show or late cancellation fee is $100.

I understand that emergencies happen, and occasional exceptions may be made on a case-by-case basis.

Consistent attendance is an important part of making meaningful progress in therapy, and I appreciate your commitment to the process.

What theoretical approach do you use?

My therapeutic style is integrative, drawing from psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral, and mind-body approaches. I focus on helping clients reconnect with themselves by integrating all parts of their experience—the heart, the mind, and the body—as a foundation for meaningful healing.

Do you prescribe medication?

No, I am not a medical doctor and do not prescribe medication. While some clients find that medication is a helpful part of their healing process, many make significant progress through therapy alone.

If you're interested in exploring medication, I recommend speaking with your primary care physician or a psychiatrist for an evaluation. If you’re already taking medication, I’m happy to coordinate care with your prescribing provider to ensure we’re working together to support your well-being.

What should I do in the event of an emergency?

If you are experiencing a crisis or need immediate support, please call 911 or go to your nearest emergency room. I do not provide crisis or emergency therapy services.

You can also contact the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline by calling or texting 988—support is available 24/7.
